The same God that was with Moses is with us today. I remember the first time this reality penetrated my heart. I was doing a Bible study and this verse jumped out and grabbed hold of me. I remember walking around the house with my hands in the air exclaiming “I am Moses, I am Moses!”
The same God who chose Moses to lead the Israelites out of Egypt has chosen you for a specific plan and purpose as well. Our God is the exact same God. He is the same yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8). He wasn’t bigger, more present, more loving, more patient, more compassionate, more powerful, more giving…He didn’t love Moses more than He loves you. You are just like Moses to God!
I feel that we often read the Bible and think, either consciously or subconsciously, “of course this person’s thoughts and words and actions are significant, he or she is in the Bible.” But they didn’t know they were going to be in the Bible!! They did not realize that thousands of years later we would still be reading about and studying their lives. No human being in the Bible knew what the significance of their life would be. They were walking out their lives day by day—going to work, making supper, doing laundry, fighting battles (both internal and external battles)—just like we are today, and the significance of their moment by moment and day by day choices was unknown to them. They had no idea of the magnitude that their seemingly insignificant lives would play in God’s magnificent redemption story for mankind. In fact, the Bible tells us in Hebrews 11:13 that they were still living by faith when they died because none of them received the promises God made. They did not see the fruit of their obedience to God that we are able to live in today.
It is important that you know and believe in your heart that your life is also significant. Your life is an essential part of God’s plan for His people, both today and for the generations to come. The significance of your life will extend beyond your lifetime! You will not know the full purpose and importance of your life until you get to look back from the perspective of eternity. It is the power of your daily actions, not one big moment or large platform that defines that significance. Everything you do is being written into His story. You are a co-author with Jesus in writing that epic story. He chose you! You are the Moses of this generation. Your faithful obedience will leave an eternal legacy! YOU are SIGNIFICANT, and YOU are LOVED!!
Lots of love,
